Kelo strikes yet again

Some years back there was a case called Kelo v. City of New London, where a city through eminent domain forcably took property away from good citizens who didn’t want to sell and gave it to a land developer, who demolished all of the houses on the property. Then his deal fell through, and nothing was developed. Now, all that ground lays fallow, a millstone of “could have been” tax money that the city could have collected from the residents.

The lesson here? The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. You may give up what you have and find out that what you gave up is more than what you have now.

Now comes this: Hotel Conference Center May Trump Private Property in Eminent Domain Case. Another instance of where the local government is set to steal land from lawful owners for the promise of more tax income. This is what happens when local land developers are in cahoots with the city council. And it stinks.

Eminent domain was supposed to be where portions of someones land be purchased for the purpose of railroad right-of-ways, or power lines, or roads. Stuff like that. But when it is being used to develop and increase the tax base, that is just down right greedy and unethical.

These people ought to be ashamed of themselves.

It was only a matter of time

You see? You see? Some Left-Wing whacko declares health care as a “human right” (It’s not), and now you have another whacko saying vacations are a human right! Brussels Declares Vacation Time a Human Right.

When will it stop? When we put our foot down and say NO MORE! Somebody has to back this bus up, or we are all going over a cliff! We cannot continue spending money that we do not have to finance bread and circuses for the masses!

Sheesh!
