All day today, the Depot has been jumping. Games of Flames of War, 40k and D&D have been played all day. Now that it’s night time, the Battletech players have also come out to play, but they are working on their machines, assembling them for future battles.
A lot of money has been brought in today, and I am happy. The word has started to spread about us, and more and more people are calling and asking where we are. More people means more players, and more players means more spending customers. I like those kind of people.
Just wanted to let y’all know this house is a rockin.

This news just reached me: Murtha Award Sparks Vet Outrage.
In my opinion, this man is worse than Hanoi Jane. Murtha may not be openly collaborating with the enemy, but he stymies any positive news about Iraq, saying time and time again that we have failed, lost, whatever. It makes it worse because he is a member of the House, and thus a leader of our country. If one of our leaders does not have faith in our troops, what does that say about him? He also declares fellow brother Marines to be cold blodded murderers.
What ever happened to Semper Fi? Murtha seems to have lost his.
Now, two years after the “event” that led to his issuing of such statements, six of the eight Marines and Sailors accused of crimes in the Haditha incident had their cases dismissed, one was found not guilty and the last has been continued indefinitely. That sounds like there is no case against these Marines and Sailor. A far cry from what Murtha was yelling about.
The now former Secretary of the Navy Donald Winter quietly awarded 19-term Democratic congressman John Murtha (Pa.) with the service’s highest civilian honor back on March 13th.
Here is what the citation says, in part:

…”courageous leadership, vision, and loyalty to the men and women of the Department of the Navy…”

Which is utter, absolute and blatant horse scat. Murtha has not done or been any of these things. I would be ashamed to give that award to someone like him, and I would be ashamed to accept an award like that if I were Murtha. Oh, wait. That’s right, Murtha has a (D) after his name. He doesn’t have shame, because he does think he deserves it. The good old double standard.
His own words shows how two faced he is. After calling for immediate withdrawl of all troops from Iraq because “we have failed,” after calling Brother Marines “cold blooded killers,” he says these words:

“I’m proud of the service and sacrifices our troops are making, and I’m honored to receive this distinguished award from the Navy. We have an obligation to ensure that our men and women in uniform have the most modern equipment, effective training, first-class medical care, and family advocacy resources.”

Please excuse me while I go vomit. I can’t take too much of this at one time.

You know that 90% tax the federal government wants to impose on the bonuses of AIG employees? The very ones agreed to only a couple of months ago by the same people screaming about it now?
Well, it’s a clear violation of the Constitution. There’s a little part in there about “No bill of attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed. ”
That means that it’s against the Constitution to pass public law that affects individuals, or that affect people who did something before the law made it unlawful.
But yet that’s exactly what Congress is doing. Using public law (i.e. the tax code) to punish a very small group of people (the staff at AIG). What you don’t know, is those were retention bonuses, and thus to keep the highest performing fund managers working at AIG. Now that they won’t get paid a substantial portion of their income, they (and their customers) will go somewhere else, and AIG will drop even farther into the toilet. Even the people pushing for this admit that it’s “chump change.” So why bother? It’s all about control. Just remember that when your turn comes….

This has probably been out for a while, but I heard again that the California government wants to be able to set your home thermostat to temperatures that they want your home to have. So, if they think you’re using too much power on your air conditioning, then they can just up your thermostat so you’re not using as much.
Of course, this is just another way into your private life. And if we don’t do something about it, I am quite sure this will be nation wide in 5-10 years.
Enjoy!

I seem to be saying that a lot lately.
This time, the Games Workshop Memphis Battle Bunker attached to the GW US manufacturing and distribution facility closed on Sunday due to declining sales. Price and Jeremy, the two last employees were let go last week and Brett was brought in to close the store. Gamerz Depot did manage to snag the 4′x8′ Epic (now Epic and Flames of War) table. I went to the Bunker as soon as I finished with the con, but everything had already been given away. We were looking for some tables, but they were given to others before we could get there.
So, now all of the Fantasy and 40k players have no place external to their homes to come to, other than the Depot. We should see an uptick in business as they come to the Depot for a place to play and buy product. The Depot will also start holding GW tournaments to bring in the buyers as well. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have just woken from a 10 hour sleep cycle. Hopefully that will put my clock back on track.
MidSouthCon 27 is over, and I hope it was a great success. It was for us. I should get a report in the next couple of weeks about how the financial success or failure of the con went.
I’m already saving for next year, and this time we are going to get a room, so we don’t have to spend wasted con time driving back and forth from home.

So far, so good. I haven’t been able to do all of the gaming that I wanted to do, because I’ve been running the Gamerz Depot table in the dealers room. I have gotten most of my gaming done in the evening after the dealers room closed. I got to game until 2:30am Saturday morning, (making it a 21 hour day), went home and got up at 6:45 and ran until midnight Saturday night, making another 16 hour day, and I got up at 7am this morning. So, I’ve had a total of about 10 hours of sleep in the past 52 hours.
I’ve been boosting my energy level with Bawls whenever I started feeling run down. But, you can jumpstart a corpse only so many times. When Bawls doesn’t help, it’s time to get some sleep.
Anyway, I’m in the dealer room right now, hawking my wares, and we’re doing pretty good business. Not only are we doing good business, but we’re getting our name out there to the local clientele. This ought to drum up a lot of local business.
The Con this year is being held at the Whispering Woods hotel and conference center in Olive Branch, literally right down the street and around the corner from the store. We have a lot more room in the dealers room, and more room for all of the gaming and everything else we do here at the Con.
I have to go, I have customers!

I was just turned on to a video where the Speaker of the House, Nanci Pelosi, 2nd in the line of succession for the Presidentcy. She praised ILLEGAL ALIENS as being patriotic and she was thankful that they were holding jobs.
Hm.
A high level government official, one who writes the laws of this country and she praises people who break the laws she swore to uphold?
Am I missing something here?
Oh. Right. She’s a Liberal. One who specializes in double standards. You see, SHE can pander to illegal special interests and get away with it, because she’s “Compassionate.” But if *I* were to do something like that (don’t worry, I won’t), I would be excoriated for it.
So, as always, it’s a “do as I say, not as I do.”

I’ll be wearing myself out all this weekend, starting Friday morning. I’ll have to move a bunch of stock and tables over to the con, then sell it. Hopefully I won’t have anything to take back! I took Friday and Monday off, Friday to get ready, and Monday to recover.
Pictures to follow. If I remember the camera.

Let me see if I got things straight about our current President. He declares a rule about “no lobbyists in my administration,” and then within 48 hours, hires a lobbyist?
Or how about the multiple cabinet nominees who haven’t paid their taxes before getting the offier for the position?
Now it’s coming to light about how President Obama can’t introduce a new cabinet member without using a teleprompter? In fact, it just came to my attention today that he used a teleprompter for a press conference! It turns out that his handlers were flashing statistics to President Obama so he could sound intelligent.
It seems that the “eloquent speaker” we elected can’t speak without help. This does not forbode well for us.
Not to mention his swapping of gifts with the current British PM.
He presented President Obama with an ornamental pen holder made from timber from the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet. A nice touch considering timber from the Gannet’s sister ship, the HMS Resolute, was used in the President’s desk that has graced the Oval Office since 1880…
[In response Obama gave him] …a 25 DVD collection of American films including The Graduate, Psycho, Star Wars, The Godfather and Citizen Kane? (H/T to Grey Matter)
Such class.
Only several thousand days to Election Day, 2011. It would bring me to tears to know the exact number.

Friends, I apologize to those who’ve actually stuck around, waiting to read my sporadic posting over the past several months, but I wanted to give you a full update as to what is going on in my life.
I am off disability (thrown off, as a matter of fact) and am now in a full time job, one that is paying me more than what I was receiving 10 years ago when I was an IT manager. The job I quit because of the stress and office politics which were killing me.
In this job the other people are smiling. There is no malicious gossip, no back stabbing, no “silos” where everybody keeps to themselves and won’t work with other departments. I have given up my standard response to “how are you?” I used to say, “I can’t complain, nobody listens.” I can’t say that anymore, because a) there is nothing for me to complain about, and b) the people here would listen.
I and my family are receiving health care benefits, although I’ve yet to get my wife out to any medical help. My son is going to college, and is doing quite well at it.
I have a second “job” where I run a gaming store. I don’t get paid in cash, but I do get a discount in buying product, stuff I would have bought anyhow.
I am run ragged, from the moment I get up at 5:30am until I collapse in bed at 10:30 at night. But I sleep the sleep of the just, because I have worked hard and done well.
I think what I am trying to say is, I am happy.
With that being said, there are other things to be said as well. The Conservative movement is fractured, broken against the MSM’s anointing of The Chosen One.
I intend to be a voice again, to speak out and make my voice heard. To carry forth the message of conservativeism, just what it means, not only to myself, but to every person on the planet.
There is a socialist in the White house, and I intend to be a voice against his policies. He and his ideas are wrong for America, and I will shine the light of truthfulness upon him and hold him accountable for his misguided actions that will inevitably hurt this country.
I’m not going to make three morning news comments like I did at my peak, but then again I’m not going to comment on semi-random news articles.
These times require a different way of doing things, and I will improvise, adapt and overcome.
I am back.
