A new gaming store opened over the weekend in Olive Branch, Mississippi. That game store is The Gamerz Depot.
This store is run and owned by two very good friends of mine, who are both avid gamers with a wide variety of gaming experience. Greg owns another business, so he has the business sense on top of the gaming experience. J.D. brings the rest of the experience and is a great guy all around.
Me? I’m in it because I don’t like Games Workshop having a stranglehold on the local gaming scene. You know me, I’m on disability and don’t have two nickels to rub together. I bring enthusiasm and sweat to the table. I don’t fool myself, I don’t have any ownership of the business. I just do the hard work and supply good ideas. You know me, I’m a thinker and come up with ideas that most people don’t think of. Greg and J.D. treat me as an equal, so I’m happy with that. I just don’t want the store to fail like Fanatic did.
We learned the lessons of Fanatic, and coupled with our own business acumen, I think we have a pretty good chance.
Here we have “The Three Gamerz.” That’s myself, Greg and J.D. from left to right:

Support your local game store. I know you can get it cheaper on line, but where are you going to play? Your home? There the spouse will always be looking in and distracting you, plus there are some gamers you don’t want in your home. Game stores rely on income to pay the rent and Air Conditioning, and that means you need to buy there as well.
Come on in if you’re in the neighborhood!
