It looks like some of the U.S. Supreme Court has horse sense.
They have ruled today, in a 5-4 decision that the handgun ban in Washington, D.C. is unconstitutional. You can read the majority opinion here.
What disheartens me is the fact that 4 SCOTUS judges think that the people have no individual right to bear arms. This should have been a 9-0 ruling.
Anyway, the ruling that both pro- and anti- gun movements have been trying for and dreading at the same time has come about, and it came down on the side of the citizen, recognizing that the right to bear arms come from God and not the Constitution.

Well, folks, it’s beginning to look like a game store. We have some stock, we have some used glass display cases to put the stock in, and we’ve hung some posters to add ambiance to the place. We haven’t had a lot of income because of the limited stock, but that’s also because we haven’t had reliable customers yet. That will change tonight, as we are going to have a casual tournament with the Universal Fighting System Collectible Card Game. These will be every Monday night.
Here’s the schedule:
Sunday
Pokemon CCG
Monday
UFS CCG
Tuesday
Heroclix
Wednesday
Flames of War
Epic:Armageddon
Thursday
AT-43
Games Workshop games
Battletech
Friday
Magic CCG
Saturday
Dungeons and Dragons
Open Gaming
We are also trying to work Dark Heresy, a Warhammer 40k RPG into the schedule as well.
So as you see, we have a busy week. We are doing our best to “cross-pollinate,” or get gamers involved with more than one game system. Since we haven’t had a lot of organized gaming at the moment, we haven’t had a chance to cross-pollinate, but trust me we will.
Don’t stop with the prayers and good vibes, we still need them for 6-9 months before we’re truly on our feet.

A new gaming store opened over the weekend in Olive Branch, Mississippi. That game store is The Gamerz Depot.
This store is run and owned by two very good friends of mine, who are both avid gamers with a wide variety of gaming experience. Greg owns another business, so he has the business sense on top of the gaming experience. J.D. brings the rest of the experience and is a great guy all around.
Me? I’m in it because I don’t like Games Workshop having a stranglehold on the local gaming scene. You know me, I’m on disability and don’t have two nickels to rub together. I bring enthusiasm and sweat to the table. I don’t fool myself, I don’t have any ownership of the business. I just do the hard work and supply good ideas. You know me, I’m a thinker and come up with ideas that most people don’t think of. Greg and J.D. treat me as an equal, so I’m happy with that. I just don’t want the store to fail like Fanatic did.
We learned the lessons of Fanatic, and coupled with our own business acumen, I think we have a pretty good chance.
Here we have “The Three Gamerz.” That’s myself, Greg and J.D. from left to right:

Support your local game store. I know you can get it cheaper on line, but where are you going to play? Your home? There the spouse will always be looking in and distracting you, plus there are some gamers you don’t want in your home. Game stores rely on income to pay the rent and Air Conditioning, and that means you need to buy there as well.
Come on in if you’re in the neighborhood!
