T-Minus 39 Hours, 43 Minutes
...until Southern Thunder 2007.
I related a couple of posts back about how my former high power rocket crashed. In 44 days, I have managed to find, build, modify and paint, in other words construct out of a group of pieces a high power rocket.
It has been a wild ride to say the least. I was working on that rocket every day, and the most frustrating part was to do one little thing, then let the epoxy dry overnight to set the part in place. When you have 6 fins, 12 fin fillets, and all of the other modifications that I applied to the airframe, meant that I had to make haste slowly.
Now the rockets are ready, everything is packed, and tomorrow my son and I with our puppy will climb into our vehicle and head on down the road to I-24 Tennessee Exit #110 to get psyched for Saturday and Sunday.
It promises to be a roller coaster ride, no matter what. I can't describe the rush you get when you see your creation jump off the pad and scream into the sky, hopefully to come back safely to you. A successful launch and recovery is a wonderful feeling.
I bought my D50 just so I can take some good digital pictures of all of the flights over the weekend. I hope to share them with you over the weekend, as I plan on blogging from the road Saturday night and from home late Sunday night.
That's it for now, I'll talk to you Friday night after I get settled.
