Disaster at Southern Thunder
I am really beginning to hate this.
I spent the last 6 weeks, laboriously and meticulously assembling, modifying and painting this rocket. I easily put 100 hours of work and love into it. I even bought two brand new motor casings and three motors just for it. I spent over three hours building the motor and prepping the rocket for flight. It was the biggest motor I have ever flown, so I was very nervous.
And what happened? I put it on a pad, and let fly. It flew straight and true, and came down intact.
And then somebody stole it.
By the time I got to where the rocket should have landed, it was gone. It obviously came down short of the trees on the edge of the field, but by the time I topped the hill it went behind, no sign of it could be found. Now, either it came down in the brush just short of the trees and I couldn't find it, or someone stole over $800 of my cash end effort.
It just makes my blood boil, and with the mood stabilizers I'm on, that is hard to do.
I have heard now two personal experiences of how a rocket locator beacon saved stolen rockets when someone else came along and picked them up, so on my next project, it looks like I'm going to have to spend a little more and get a locator.
I've got a whole year this time, so I might as well get started saving up the cash for my next project.
BTW, pictures in the next post, as soon as I'm done working on them.
