Bias of the Main Stream Media

I was with Mike helping him move some things and we stopped for a break while the news was on. Well, we were watching Katie Couric because that was the only channel that he could pick up clearly with national news, and as they transited from her to commercial, real quick they had a medium long shot of her desk and the display on the desk said, "Stock market report: Record high."

I remarked, "When the Dow jumps 100 points in a day, the mainstream media shows it, but doesn't talk about it. But let the Dow slide 100 points and the MSM is all over it."

This, again, shows the bias of the mainstream media, they only report bad news on the economy, never the good. This is the best economy we've had in 30+ years, and it's a solid growth, not a dot com bubble. But you can't get the people who report the news to say that. It would prove that President Bush is doing at least some things right. His tax cuts have spurred the economy to grow in a solid and consistent manner.

And what is "Speaker Pelosi" going to do in her first 100 hours of office? Why, raise taxes. She is going to "roll back" the evil tax cuts to the rich. Never mind that the top 1 percent of wage earners pays 34.27% of the total tax revenues collected. The top 25% of income earners pays 83.88%, and the top 50% pays 96.54%. She wants you to pay more.

If you are a Conservative, get out and vote. Don't sit home and whine about both of them being crooks. Sure they are, and you may have to hold your nose when you vote Republican. But you must look at the alternative. More taxes, cut the funding for Iraq to pull the troops out, and so on. One choice may be bad, but the other is worse.

One last thing. To date, in three and-a-half years of fighting in Iraq, we have lost 2,236 troops in combat. In 2001 30,622 people committed suicide. 20,000+ were murdered. 16,694 died in drunk driving crashes in 2004. Put just those three numbers together and you have 67,000+ deaths, in one year. And we've lost an average of 639 a year in combat deaths. That's just 1% of the number of deaths I just gave. And the people who are dying in Iraq are doing something when they die. Their lives aren't wasted by senseless deaths like over here. But you'll never see the MSM put those deaths in context.

Bah. A pox on them and their houses.
