A strike back at Kelo
If this bank was in Tennessee, I would be very tempted to change to it. BB&T Denies Loans to Businesses Benefiting from Eminent Domain.
The gist of the matter is, if you have local government take private land for you to develop, don't expect to get a loan from BB&T.
The North Carolina-based bank, which employs more than 28,000 people in 1,400 branches in 11 states, announced last month that it would no longer approve loans for developers who want to pursue commercial enterprises on land seized by the government using the power of eminent domain, or taking private property for public use.
I can only applaud this bank, as someone who is taking a moral stand on this heinous issue. Congratulations!
