A Hero scorned

Just to prove that Liberals have taken over our universities: Students reject honor to 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' hero.

Just to name names, Jill Edwards doesn't want a war hero to be honored, because she "didn't believe a member of the Marine Corps was an example of the sort of person UW wanted to produce."

Here you have a man, who stood up against the Empire of Japan, not once but twice, both as an American Volunteer in China (The Flying Tigers) and then as a Marine. He was shot down and tortured, and I mean tortured, for almost 2 years before being liberated.

He stood up before Pearl Harbor, and manned that wall that protects us from those who would do us harm. Ms. Edwards, he typifies the kind of man you should honor. His service to this country was awarded the highest possible honor this country could possibly bestow upon him. An award so exclusive that the ones who live to get the medal are outnumbered by those who received it posthumously.

Of course, she won't reconsider. Ms. Edwards is likely a pacifist and believes any violence is wrong. What a sheltered life she leads.

Here is something that you should consider:

IT IS THE SOLDIER

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Just something to think about.
