Veterans Day

On the Eleventh hour, of the Eleventh day, of the Eleventh month, the guns fell silent along the Western front. An armistice had been reached, followed by the official unconditional surrender of Germany and her allies. It ended more than four years of bloody warfare, in which millions of soldiers died. This was the first time war had been fought on such a scale, and this war became known as The Great War. Today, less than 30 Americans are still around that fought in that war.

Today marks not only the end of the Great War, but a celebration of the service of those who serve or have served our country. Memorial day is to remember the dead, Veterans Day is meant to remember the living.

If you know a veteran, thank them for their service and sacrifice. It is these men and women, who took their turn on watch on that wall that separates us from our enemies, who have made sure that you enjoy the freedoms you have today.
