Trivia of the day

The quote on Slashdot when I checked it during my news rounds today was “Eureka! — Archimedes.”
I am awarding *10* Bonus Cool Points if you can name the circumstances as to how he came about yelling this word, and what he did while yelling it that made this word so famous.
After my below post about Google, no Googling allowed.
Answer tomorrow.

Environmentalists fight it out

…with each other. Energy Battle Sets Up Duel Between Environmentalists.
The Green Power environmentalists are at odds with the tree-and-bird-hugging environmentalists in this story. The Green Power people are trying to set up windmills to help supply power in Wisconsin. The problem is the windmills are only 1 1/2 miles from a bird refuge and the tree-and-bird-huggers are afraid that all of these birds will be pureed by the windmills.
Dilemmas, dilemmas. Isn’t it nice seeing them tear themselves apart for once? Of course, it doesn’t matter to me who wins in this race. Windmills are not a good industrial producer of electricity, you can ask Steven Den Beste at USS Clueless about it. And we have bajillions of birds in this country, the few who will be killed trying to pass through the windmills will not make an impact on the bird population. Unless that lone Ivory-Billed Woodpecker gets caught up in one.

Switch to Yahoo!

Google has revealed it’s Left-wing bias. Google Refuses Conservative Ad, Similar to Liberal Ad.
The story sums the who shebang up right here:

He noticed an anti-DeLay ad for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that stated, “The Truth About Tom DeLay – Learn about DeLay’s many scandals and help us clean up the House! dccc.org.” Greene attempted to purchase a similar ad that stated, “Truth About Nancy Pelosi – Learn about Pelosi’s many scandals and help us clean up the House! RightMarch.com”

So out of all of the anti-Delay ads running on Google, these people use the words right out of one of these ads and turn it against Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader of the House. And they get shot down over it.
This is similar to the story a while back (October 7, 2003 to be exact) where Google allowed porn advertisements, but not an ad from a firearms dealer.
My position is still that it’s their site and they can do what they want. I just wish their position was a little more clear so more people could make an informed decision. But then again if more people made a properly informed decision, then Google would lose gobs of money.
I for one try not to pay attention to any ads they have on purpose. If one does catch my eye, I will type it in directly instead of clicking through, just so they don’t get the money. Please do the same.
