This has got to stop. Immigrant Parents Want Schools to Translate for Them.
America's strength is best personified by the phrase, "E Plurabus Unum," from many, one. We blend and mix all of the best parts of all of the cultures and societies of the world.
But that can't happen when immigrants (illegal or not) refuse to assimilate. They won't learn our language, so they stay isolated in their own barrios and ghettos, apart from everybody else.
We must stop coddling these immigrants. If they wanted to be here so bad, then they should learn our language. I would be laughed out of any other country if I attempted to live there and not learn the local lingo. I see no reason why we shouldn't act the same way to our immigrants.
I don't give a damn about "kinder, gentler." There are long-term sociological problems that have resulted from this, we see it wherever illegal immigrants have invaded an area. They set up shop in a particular area, and then scare the American citizens out, so they set up a barrio.
This is simply not right and it needs to stop. If the immigrants don't want to learn English, then they shouldn't be here.
