I saw a news article last night about growing organs in animals for transplant into humans. This is a super bad idea. This would allow animal diseases to ‘jump’ to humans. This means a whole wave of diseases that we have no immunity against. It sounds like a good idea on the face, but when you get into the science of it, the idea breaks down. BSE (Mad Cow Disease) came from pigs. Cows got it because farmers would feed pork grindings to cows as filler to their feed. Then we got it when humans would consume the extra grindings of the brain and spinal cord of the affected cow.
Like Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park, "Just because we can do something doesn't mean we have to do it."
We have no idea as to what we would unleash upon ourselves if we try this. Bad, bad, idea.
