How do you like the new digs?

I moved for a variety of reasons, I wanted my own domain, I wanted a stable system, and a lot more that I wasn’t getting from Blogger. The only thing I regret losing is the built-in spell checker.
And so here I am. I’ve been playing with Moveable Type for only a couple of weeks now and still haven’t figured out all of the bells and whistles yet. Don’t worry, I’m fairly smart and I’m not afraid to ask directions ;-) .
I still have a lot of repointing to do, but with the old site redirecting, I have a lot of time to do that.
All 900 of my posts from the original Zone have been successfully imported over, so it’s like I’ve always been here. I just have to wait until the web spiders recognize it.
Anyway, make yourself at home, we’re here to stay this time.

It is surely dead

This article, The Death Of The Democratic Party, has proven the quote by Ronald Reagan, “I didn’t leave the Democrat Party, it left me.”
The decent of the Democrat party is long and well documented. It has descended into a morass of childish rants and temper tantrums. Like a 6-year old, it has to cheat at the game in order to make sure they win. Making up rules, ignoring others, it is a game of Calvinball gone wild.
They have lost all civility and grace in this process. They have deluded themselves that they “deserve” the power elective office holds out to them, and Democrats will do anything to obtain and hang onto that power.
It is the Democrats, not the Republicans, which have a thousand attorneys standing by to contest any and all close elections where they are on the losing side. They are the ones who plan on dragging this from judge to judge until they get a favorable ruling.
It really is sad.

Living beyond your means

I found this article and wanted to pass it along, Too Much Credit Like Too Much Candy.
It goes into the propensity Americans have for easy credit and the “buy now, pay (with interest) later” mindset. When you build up too much debt, just go bankrupt and purge ourselves of the debt.
There is another answer. His name is Dave Ramsey and he teaches how to live within your means, stay out of debt and build up large piles of cash so you can be rich.
I posted about him not too long after I started this blog and I’ve been looking for a reason to post about him again for a while. The man is enthusiastic about this stuff and he laughs with you when you do well and commiserates with you when you are stuck in a hole and can’t see the light of day.
I guarantee that you’ll like listening to him. He has free audio streaming from his website so you can listen to him anytime. I listen to him merely because Dave and his stories, plus those of his callers, uplift me, and I need all of the uplifting I can get these days.
Listen to him. You won’t regret it.
