The surprise is almost here!

Well, work is progressing quite nicely on my surprise to you, and I plan on unveiling it next Monday. I was going to wait until the first of the year, but this is just as good of a time, if not better.

Without revealing too much, this is going to be a big step up for me. I have a couple of friends onboard as a reality check to make sure I’m not screwing it up. I look forward to having all of you tell me what you think about it after it’s been unveiled.

I hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

View it for yourself

A while back I asked someone who was in a market to see “Stolen Valor” to record it and send me a tape. Well, the truncated version wasn’t much to see from what I understand.

The good news is you can view the whole thing by following this link. It goes to a message board with the direct link to either dial-up or broadband connections.

I have yet to see it, I’ve been a little busy with my surprise, but I do plan on watching it this week.

Enjoy.

The disaster that could befall us

I found this, Kerry Could Bring Armageddon and I wanted to share it with you.

History is replete with “what if’s” and such that you almost wish you had a time machine to change the past. But there are times when it is obvious and you don’t have to guess about yesterdays “what if’s” because it is not to yesterday yet.

We stand on a precipice, and looking into it we can see our future as clearly as we have ever been able to do. To not take the proper path today, as shown by our mistakes in the past, will have dire consequences tomorrow.

If we do not continue the fight against the terrorists in Iraq, sometime in the future we will have to confront a much more deadly enemy. If John Kerry is elected and he retreats from the offensive, the terrorists will be emboldened. At some point in the future a nuclear device will be detonated in our country and millions will die. At that point our only alternative may be to wipe several countries off the face of the earth. Armageddon could occur due to a failure to act now. These things could happen anyway, but they will happen if we do not go after terrorists where they are and go after the countries that harbor them. This election is about life and death. A few die to protect us now or millions die later.

And to keep things in perspective, for every soldier killed to protect our way of life, 40 die on our roads and highways in vehicle crashes, about 20 of them alcohol related. That’s 40 men, women and children who’s lives were wasted.

While the Left argues that the combat deaths are wasted, I beg to differ. As long as we can keep the terrorists busy in Iraq, they are not here in America. That alone is worth the cost.

Kerry and the Second Amendment

I would like to point out this article, Kerry and guns, and take a moment to go over this important subject.

Kerry may be an avid hunter, but the SA is more than just about hunting. It’s about a lot more than that.

In 1787 when the Constitution was being written, these men were fresh from a war of Independence. They had faced a brutal government and did not want themselves or their children to suffer a similar fate. Which is why the Articles of Confederation were drawn before the Constitution, but the Articles were too week and failed miserably.

The Bill of Rights was drawn up separately because at first the Founding Fathers thought that the Constitution was clear enough on these points, but after the Constitution was ratified, they decided to put them in just to make it clear. The Second Amendment is one of those assumed freedoms.

They won their independence by force of arms, and the Founding Fathers never wanted to see a disarmed American. Not only for national defense, but to again overthrow a brutal government that did not respect the rights and freedoms of the American Citizen. They wanted the average citizen to be as well armed as any standing Infantryman. While we are not armed to that standard today, any group meaning us harm (Federal troops, invading army or rioters) who invade the wrong area will certainly get their moneys worth if they want to win.

The Second Amendment is not about hunting. It’s about survival. If you don’t want to survive, then leave it alone to those of us who do.

Battle Report

You know, after posting all of that stuff about being a General yesterday, I feel pretty dumb. The short story is I lost.

I went up against orks again, and got beat fair and square. He brought a Basilisk, which is an artillery piece that can reach anywhere on the board. In a game that is measured in inches, it has a range of 10 FEET.

His Basilisk did major damage to two of my squads. I tried taking it out with my Land Speeder, but he kept it stunned (unable to move or fire) for three turns. On the right flank, he destroyed my Dreadnought on the first turn, the only thing that could have hurt his ‘ard boyz. He collapsed my right flank, and I collapsed his. But over all, he did way more damage to me than I did to him.

Next week is going to be a bear, as I can’t take any Dreadnoughts with me. Not to mention I go up against my son. He’s doing pretty good, while I have a 2-1 record, he’s got a 1-1-1 and he’s accumulating more points than I am.

The difference is important

A remark from Cox and Forkum:

The American system is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic. A democracy, if you attach meaning to terms, is a system of unlimited majority rule; the classic example is ancient Athens. And the symbol of it is the fate of Socrates, who was put to death legally, because the majority didn’t like what he was saying, although he had initiated no force and had violated no one’s rights.

Democracy, in short, is a form of collectivism, which denies the individual rights: the majority can do whatever it wants with no restrictions. In principle, the democratic government is all-powerful. Democracy is a totalitarian manifestation; it is not a form of freedom…

The American system is a constitutionally limited republic, restricted to the protection of individual rights. In such a system, majority rule is applicable only to lesser details, such as the selection of certain personnel. But the majority has no say over the basic principles governing the government. It has no power to ask for or gain the infringement of individual rights.

(from The Ayn Rand Lexicon, edited by Harry Binswanger)

We talk about the United States being a Democracy, when it is the farthest thing from the truth. A true Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for lunch…

Our basic freedoms in the Bill of Rights were put in there because our Forefathers wanted to make clear what they meant. They thought these things were clear in society already, but they realized that they needed to be spelled out in such a place that they can never be threatened again. The process needed to change the Constitution is set to an insanely high degree on purpose, so as to protect those rights from mere mob rule. There has to be a consensus from 2/3rds of the Congress and 2/3rds of the states to change the Constitution.

And so it should be.

Kerry should be concerned

Senator Kerry’s minions are pulling out all of the stops to prevent Sinclair Broadcasting from showing “Stolen Honor.” And it appears to be at least partly successful.

Here’s why. Why Kerry Fears ‘Stolen Honor’

For starters, “Stolen Honor” offers a compelling indictment of John Kerry as a man and as an American. This is powerful stuff. Any reasonable, independent American would likely be swayed by it.

This election could be so close that every vote will count. Kerry has to pay attention to what Sinclair will air in battleground states where it has stations, places like Charleston, W.V.; Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Madison and Milwaukee, Wis.; and Pensacola, Tallahassee and Tampa, Fla.

Kerry cannot risk this.

He cannot risk it because his entire campaign rests on obfuscation of the facts. While he touts he is a Vietnam war hero, he doesn’t want you to know about his Less Than Honorable Discharge from the Navy. He hardly talks about his 20 years in the Senate, because he has absolutely nothing he can stand on there. He wanted to cut military spending, increase taxes and not much else. He never talks about his stint as Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, simply because that is the most Liberal state in the Union.

Senator Kerry is relying on tap dancing and hoping you don’t see the real him behind the curtain. You cannot trust this man with any power.

Reasons to vote for, not against

I must admit, it is harder to vote for somebody than it is to vote against his opponent. You always feel you are voting for the lesser of two evils.

But don’t look at it that way.

You should pick a candidate that best fits you as a whole. You will never be 100% in agreement with any candidate, unless you are the one running. Always keep that in mind.

With that being said, here is an endorsement: Why I’m voting for Bush.

WHEN TERRORISTS attacked the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, President Bush had to decide how to respond.

He could have treated the attacks as if they were a crime and appealed to the United Nations to help apprehend and punish al Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan.

Instead, Bush chose to send U.S. troops to hunt down al Qaeda and oust the Taliban regime that protected the terrorist group, even as the anti-war left accused him of killing innocent Afghans in an act of misguided vengeance.

Today, Afghanistan is a democracy. Women participated in the country’s first direct presidential election. Iraq is about to hold an election, and Libya has begun disarming its nuclear weapons.

Changes, positive changes have come about from the actions of this man. He took decisive action, and in this post 9/11 world, that is what is needed. If you hem and haw around about nuances, you will be dead, or at least thousands of your countrymen will be.

The United Nations is worthless. It has not ever acted in any substantial way unless the United States was involved, leading the way. It cannot do so even if it wanted. Oh, sure, it can send some French or Ghanaian troops to some part of Africa, but they are just laughed at by the locals as they use the blue berets for target practice. And the “peacekeepers” are limited to how much force they can use back. They may only fire one bullet back for every bullet fired at them. It makes sense, just not to me.

Let’s keep this guy around a while longer. 9/11 proved he is the right man in the right place, at the right time.

Over to the side there

In case you haven’t noticed, I have included a couple of new graphics for you. One is quotes from Liberals, so we can throw their words back in their faces. It comes from the Museum of Left Wing Lunacy. I find them quite amusing.

Second is a day-by-day account of how the states are polling. It is from electoral-vote.com and while it is run by an admitted closet Democrat, it looks to be accurate on the surface. I would rather appear to be a couple of votes behind so as to energize our base and overcome the polling data.

It is quite a well-documented site, as it explains the electoral college, breaks down the polling data in spreadsheets and gives cartograms as well as the regular map.

Read it. It is very enlightening. Just go out and vote for Bush in the Tuesday after next.

Kerry’s Draft

Something from Cox and Forkum:

Read the writeup that goes along with the picture. It talks about Kerry’s draft, where high school students are forced into mandatory community service. At least you have a chance to avoid a military draft, this one is for everybody. And where is the money going to come from to pay for all of the supplies, salaries for leaders, etc.? That’s right! MORE TAXES!

Ain’t life grand?

Hunting for Votes

John Kerry is hunting this morning near where I used to live. He’s hunting in Youngstown, Ohio, hunting for geese and votes.

I wonder if he is using that shotgun. You know, the one he received unlawfully, the one that he would have banned if one of his few bills had passed?

More hatred

From the Washington Times Inside the Beltway:

Bush intolerance

It’s getting ugly out there.

With less than two weeks before Election Day, Willa Untiedt, a grandmother who lives in Northern Virginia, was in Hancock Fabrics in downtown Vienna to pick up a pattern to make her 5-year-old grandson a red velvet vest.

“Here I am buying thread,” observes Mrs. Untiedt, “and there is this woman next to me looking at trim who is wearing a button. Now I wear bifocals, so I had to move forward to see this button, and … then I stepped back very quickly. I have learned to keep away from people like that.”

The button read “Kill Bush.”

“She was in my age range,” says the widowed Mrs. Untiedt, daughter of John Kelso, Washington correspondent for the old Boston Post newspaper.

So what did Mrs. Untiedt do next?

She felt it her civic duty to contact the Secret Service, which frowns upon such expressions of presidential demise, regardless of party or campaign season. The president’s bodyguards went so far as to patch the loving grandmother into Uncle Sam’s new terrorist hot line.

Go get ‘em Grandma!

Off my feed

It’s nothing serious, but I think my depression is acting up a bit. I’m just not enthusiastic enough this morning to post my missives. I can’t find anything that interests me.

Hopefully I will feel better soon so I can start work on the surprise.

The American Electorate

Here are some wonderful anecdotes of how informed and full of common sense people in general Americans are. These people would fail the test for Jay Leno’s Jay-Walking.

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which
direction was north because, he explained, he didn’t want the sun
waking him up every morning. She asked, “Does the sun rise in the
north?”
When another person jumped in and explained that the sun rises in the
east (and has for some time), she shook her head and said, “Oh, I don’t
keep up with that stuff.”
And then she voted.
===============
I used to work in technical support for a 24×7 call center. One day I got
a call from an InDUHvidual who asked what hours the call center was
open. I told him, “The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7
days a week.” He responded, “Is that Eastern or Pacific time?”
Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, “Pacific..”
And then he voted.
============
So my colleague and I were eating our lunch in our cafeteria when we
overheard one of the administrative assistants talking about the
sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the shore. She drove down in
a convertible, but “didn’t think she’d get sunburned because the car
was moving.”
And then she voted.
================
I was in a high school advanced physics class and the teacher was
talking about a new military weapon that uses sonic waves on the
battlefield to burst enemy soldier’s chests. One InDUHvidual in the
class spoke up and said, “Well that’s stupid! Why don’t they just wear
headphones?”
And a few years later, he voted.
=============
My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car. It’s designed to cut through a
seatbelt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk.
And then she voted.
=================
My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were
discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought two cases. The
cashier multiplied two times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.
And then they all voted.
================
I was hanging out with a real liberal friend of mine when we saw a
woman walk by us with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain.
My friend said, “Wouldn’t the chain rip out every time she turned her
head?” I had to explain to her that a person’s nose and ear remain the
same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned.
And then she voted.
===============
I couldn’t find my luggage at the airport baggage area. So I went to the
lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never
showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because they were
trained professionals and I was in good hands. “Now,” she asked me,
“has your plane arrived yet?”

And then she voted.

I am reminded of a Darwin Award where a man had his car stall on a railroad crossing. He was trying to obtain help when a train came along. The Darwin Award part comes along when he is standing on the tracks, cellphone in one hand, the other hand to he ear so he can hear over the trains whistle. Of course the train hits and kills him before it destroys his car.

Sheesh.
