Someone hasn’t been forgotten

Some good news. Just because he’s not in the news doesn’t mean things aren’t happening.
Feds say Berger still under probe.

For those who’ve been under a rock for the past couple of months, Sandy Berger, National Security Advisor to President Clinton, was caught secreting classified documents in his clothes out of a classified reading area. When confronted, he returned most of them, then claimed that he “inadvertently” destroyed the rest, which just so happened to be embarrassing to himself and President Clinton.

Well, the probe is still continuing and it will come to an eventual conclusion. Hopefully, but not likely, it will result in Mr. Berger being a long-term guest of the Federal Prison System.

Another waste of tax dollars

I am getting sick of this. Our national disgrace.

Here in Memphis, TN, we have a AAA Minor league baseball team and a NBA team, the Grizzlies. We also have a University of Memphis basketball and football team.

Several years ago, at great expense, a pyramid shaped basketball stadium known as the “tomb of doom” was built for the U of M. Many taxes were levied and bonds floated. Then came the Grizzlies. They thought the Pyramid was nice, but they wanted a better place, so more taxes were levied and bonds floated to create the FedExForum. As soon as the Forum became a reality, the U of M team jumped ship from the Pyramid to the Forum.

This leaves the City with a totally unused arena where we owe approximately $15 million on it. Shameful.

Then we have our Baseball franchise, who built their own stadium, without the city paying one dollar. Nice.

Too bad more cities don’t do this to the sports franchises. Make them front the money and pay for their own digs. But the allure of sports teams will likely never let that happen. Cities (actually citizens) will pay through the nose to attract teams.

No partisanship here

I found this article more sad than funny: Teacher Booted for Displaying President’s Picture.

It seems that people think any display of the Presidents picture is a partisan display. It also shows that the principal is an idiot and should be booted himself.

Earlier reports had parents wondering why a picture of Senator Kerry was not up next to President Bush, but there is no mention of that in this article.

It is a disgrace that such a thing happen. But then again we are talking about Liberals. I’m quite sure no ruckus would have been raised if there was a picture of Al Gore in place of the President (since he really is the President, you know) and then a picture of Senator Kerry (since he is going to win, right?).

Despicable.
